LIVENT’S RIGOROUS SUPPLY CHAIN
Because the suppliers we work with are vital to ensuring a responsible supply chain, Livent has a formal Supplier Selection and Approval Process. It involves the screening of all new significant contractors and raw material suppliers for their adherence to quality, safety, human rights standards, and sustainability. Livent believes this program is vital to our ability to manage and mitigate supplier risk. Compliance (or not) to this process is tracked and reported in the form of Key Performance Indicators. Annual Supplier Selection and Approval Process training is provided to the Global Procurement Group.
What does Livent expect of our Raw Material Suppliers?
We require all new significant chemical suppliers to complete a “Supplier Prequalification Form”, which includes questions on Safety and Health, Quality Management Systems, REACH, Transportation Safety/C-TPAT, Responsible Care, Responsible Sourcing, Sustainability, and Financial Health. Suppliers must also agree to comply with our Supplier Code of Conduct. Livent then ranks the questionnaires responses. If the supplier does not meet all our requirements, risk mitigation tactics are put in place, or we locate another source of supply.
What does Livent expect of our Contractors?
We require that all contractors entering our premises to perform high risk activities (such as tank cleanouts) place a high degree of emphasis on safety, which is Livent’s core value. We expect contractors to provide us with details on their safety programs and safety records. In the United States, Livent has partnered with Avetta to qualify and annually re-qualify our high-risk contractors. Avetta helps to ensure that our contractors are qualified to meet Livent’s requirements in the areas of Environmental, Health and Safety.
Livent’s risk management also includes assessment of suppliers for export compliance (prohibited parties, embargoes and trade sanctions) under the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
